Teen Psychology

Ages: 13-18 years
Teen Psychology supports young people experiencing emotional, behavioural, social, or developmental challenges that may be impacting their wellbeing, relationships, confidence, or daily functioning.
Our psychologists provide a safe, supportive, and collaborative space where teens can explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences while developing healthier coping strategies, emotional understanding, and resilience.
1:1 teen-centred sessions with our psychologists.

We support teens and families navigating a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and excessive worries
  • Emotional dysregulation or overwhelm
  • Trauma or distressing experiences
  • Grief and loss
  • Attachment and relationship difficulties
  • Aggression or behavioural challenges
  • Social difficulties or low self-esteem
  • Family stress, transitions, or parenting challenges

We take a person-centred and creative approach, tailoring therapy to each person’s personality, interests, and needs. While sessions may involve conversation-based therapy, we also integrate creative and expressive approaches where helpful to support engagement, emotional safety, and communication.
Depending on the person, therapy may incorporate:

  • Creative and expressive therapies
  • Art-based interventions
  • Mindfulness and grounding strategies
  • Drama and storytelling techniques
  • Movement and body-based regulation strategies
  • Parent-child attachment work
  • Emotional regulation and coping skill development

Our focus is not only on reducing distress, but on helping teens better understand themselves, strengthen relationships, and feel more confident navigating life’s challenges.

How Sessions Work
Sessions are 1:1 with a psychologist and are tailored to the individual person’s goals and needs.
Therapy may involve:

  • Talking and reflective conversation
  • Creative or play-based therapeutic activities
  • Emotional regulation and coping strategies
  • Exploring thoughts, feelings, and behaviours
  • Strengthening confidence, identity, and resilience
  • Collaborative parent support and feedback

We work at the teen’s pace, creating a space where they feel heard, respected, and emotionally safe.

Parent & Family Support
Parents and caregivers are an important part of the therapeutic process.

We support families through:

  • Initial parent intake and assessment
  • Collaborative goal-setting
  • Parent guidance and practical strategies
  • Ongoing feedback and support
  • Attachment and relationship-focused interventions where appropriate

Our approach recognises that supporting a teen often also means supporting the relationships and environments around them.
